Isra\u00ebl-Saoedi-Arabi\u00eb Relaties: Netanyahu’s Verklaringen en Laatste Ontwikkelingen<\/strong><\/p>\n

De langdurige geheime relatie van de Isra\u00eblische premier Benjamin Netanyahu met Saoedi-Arabi\u00eb begint de laatste dagen snel te worden onthuld. Deze relatie werd openlijk besproken door Netanyahu in een interview met Channel 14 in Washington vorige week. Netanyahu verklaarde trots: “We hadden ongeveer drie jaar lang geheime relaties. Drie mensen van onze kant wisten dit, buiten mij om. Aan hun kant waren er ook maar zeer weinig mensen die hierbij betrokken waren, net zoals aan de Amerikaanse kant.” <\/p>\n

Als deze informatie klopt, kan deze relatie ofwel met toestemming van de andere partij worden onthuld, of het kan openbaar worden als deze eindigt. Een derde mogelijkheid is dat deze verklaring een daad van intimidatie is, net als Netanyahu’s andere arrogante gedragingen van de laatste tijd. De relatie tussen Saoedi-Arabi\u00eb en Isra\u00ebl is echter gevormd op basis van persoonlijke en staatsambities.<\/p>\n

Saoedi-Arabi\u00eb’s Relaties en MBS’s Strategie\u00ebn<\/h3>\n

Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) realiseerde zich, tegenover de sterke tegenstand van leden van de koninklijke familie, dat de weg naar de macht via Tel Aviv en Washington liep. Na zijn aantreden als kroonprins deed MBS in 2017 een geheime bezoek en verklaarde zijn minachting voor de Palestijnse zaak om de Amerikaanse Joodse gemeenschap te be\u00efnvloeden.<\/p>\n

  • Relaties met de Palestijnse Autoriteit:<\/strong> MBS bekritiseerde de Palestijnse president Mahmoud Abbas en zei: “Palestijnen moeten met Isra\u00ebl onderhandelen of zwijgen.”<\/li>\n
  • Abraham Akkoorden:<\/strong> Voor de aanvallen van Hamas kwam MBS een stap dichterbij het ondertekenen van de Abraham Akkoorden.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Zelfs na de aanvallen van Hamas ging Saoedi-Arabi\u00eb door met zijn zaken. Gedurende 15 maanden werden pro-Palestijnse protesten verboden, en terwijl Gaza leed, gingen festivals door. Het was zelfs verboden voor Umrah-bezoekers om voor Gaza te bidden of de Palestijnse vlag te hijsen.<\/p>\n

    Gevolgen en Reacties<\/h3>\n

    In het interview met Channel 14 bracht Netanyahu op spottende wijze de wens van Saoedi-Arabi\u00eb om een Palestijnse staat op te richten ter sprake. Dit leidde tot sterke reacties vanuit Arabische landen zoals Egypte, Jordani\u00eb en de VAE. Saoedi-Arabi\u00eb verwierp met klem de “verklaringen die zijn gedaan om de aandacht af te leiden van de voortdurende misdaden tegen onze Palestijnse broeders.”<\/p>\n

    De houding van Saoedi-Arabi\u00eb heeft de inspanningen van Netanyahu en Trump tenietgedaan. Deze twee leiders waren degenen die landen als de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten, Bahrein, Soedan en Marokko onder druk zetten om de Abraham Akkoorden te ondertekenen. Netanyahu’s uitspraken dat hij de Arabische wereld de vrede wil opdringen, hebben de buitenlandse politiek van Saoedi-Arabi\u00eb 50 jaar terug in de tijd geworpen.<\/p>\n

    MBS vond de kans om zichzelf en zijn koninkrijk opnieuw te positioneren. Saoedi-Arabi\u00eb ziet nu dat de belangstelling van de jonge bevolking voor de Palestijnse zaak toeneemt. MBS vat deze situatie samen met: “Ik ben niet ge\u00efnteresseerd in de Palestijnse kwestie, maar mijn volk is dat wel.”<\/p>\n

    Concluderend veranderen de dynamieken in de regio snel. Saoedi-Arabi\u00eb heeft de kans gegrepen om via de Palestijnse kwestie een moreel en economisch centrum binnen de Arabische en Islamitische wereld te worden. <\/p>\n
